Benjamin (Ben) Cory is a multi-genre artist and painter specializing in the creation of hand-props for the film and entertainment industries. A member of Local 729 and Local 44, Ben is at ease in a variety of prop environments, from painting small weapons to large transportation devices and sets. His resume and gallery of work reflect his experience with 3D printed parts from SLA, filament/FFF/FDM, and Polyjet printers. Comfortable with technical drawings and computer designs, Ben works with a variety of mediums including, fiberglass, latex, polystyrene, wood, and textiles as well as parts from 5-axis CNC machines including foam, plastic, and metal.
Ben’s finishes and faux effects can be seen in a variety of movies including the Avengers: Age of Ultron, Guardians of the Galaxy, Game of Thrones, and Captain America: Civil War, among many others.
Combining an artisan mind-set with practical application, Ben is skilled at following design guidelines from blueprints to rough sketches and ideas. He has extensive experience with project development for bio-mechanical props including superhero suits, futuristic gauntlets, and armored gloves.
